Self love, real self love, not the fluffy stuff consisting of face masks and bubble baths, has been on my mind heavy lately. Some of us (including me) are so distracted by everything else, that we are not focused on the steps we need to take to elevate ourselves. Today I wanted to discuss 3 ways to love on yourself just a little bit better.⁣ ⁣ 1. Take a long, hard look at anything in your life that is stripping you of joy/causing extreme stress. Sometimes we feel that we have to bear through certain things, but that may not always be the case. If you feel stuck in a situation, relationship, job, or even city that is not propelling you forward but dragging you deeper into depression, then let it go. If letting it go completely is not an option, make a plan, get to work, and start reducing the energy you give to that thing. What is not healthy is continuing to complain and failing to make steps necessary for change.⁣ ⁣ 2. Take a critical look in the mirror and identify all the issues you have mentally. Unresolved trauma from childhood? Unexplained anger issues? Undiagnosed mental illness? All of this needs to be dealt with. It’s time to stop ignoring our mental health because it can literally be the death of us. Now it is DIFFICULT to find a therapist of color who takes insurance because I’m dealing with this currently. I need my community to please drop resources for myself and others that can help make this process smoother. ⁣ ⁣ 3. Stop ignoring your physical health. I preach this every Wednesday, but I’m going to say it again. Since the beginning of this year, I have had my annual, an ultrasound, seen a specialist, got new glasses, and saw my dentist. I used to think it was cute to say “I don’t have time” until I realized there were serious things that could be developing in my body. If you don’t make time for your health now, then you may not have time at all later. ⁣ ⁣ I’m still working on these 3 items myself. However, simply acknowledging that work needs to be done can make all the difference.⁣ ⁣ What other critical ways can you love on yourself better?⁣ ⁣ Dress is from @eloquii and linked in bio #xoq ⁣ ⁣ 📸 @mediabyanna
